Even in Old Age, Men Want Sex More Than Women
March 11, 2010
(TIME/Yahoo) – Spring is coming, and a young man’s thoughts turn to…you know. Apparently, old men’s thoughts turn to the same subject. According to an article to be published Wednesday in the journal BMJ (British Medical Journal), 67% of men ages 65 to 74 said they had been sexually active in the past year, compared with just 40% of women in that age group. Everyone knows young men think constantly about sex, but many guys remain interested in sex until they are almost dead: more than one-third of men ages 75 to 85 said they had sex in the past 12 months, compared with just 17% of women in that age group.
Some of this surely has to do with Viagra, which makes it easier for older men to be interested in sex. But the disparity in sexual activity between older men and older women isn’t entirely explained by the 1998 release of the little blue pill. One set of data presented in the new paper – taken from the National Survey of Midlife Development, involving about 3,000 adults aged 25 to 74 – was collected in 1995 and 1996. That data set shows that 62% of men ages 65 to 74 reported sexual activity in the previous six months; only 36% of women in the same age group did so. (See how to prevent illness at any age.)
These differences matter because having a healthy sex life is strongly associated with having a healthy life, period – and also a longer life. Scientists aren’t sure about the causal relationship here. Sexually active people tend to be healthier, and healthier people tend to be sexually active. It could be that the fulfillment of sex gives you a health boost, or that being more fit makes sex better – or, more likely, it’s a little of both.
Police: Accused Baby Killer Robs Pharmacy
March 11, 2010
MARYSVILLE (Q13 FOX)- Marysville Police say a man matching a description of James Douglas Fryberg, 21, robbed the Haggens pharmacy Tuesday night just before 6pm. Detectives were able to obtain independent witnesses who identified Fryberg as the robber through photo line-ups.
Although no weapon was seen by employees of the pharmacy, the suspect implied that he had a firearm when he demanded prescription narcotics from the clerk. Marysville Police say Fryberg should be considered armed and dangerous.
Marysville Police are asking for the public’s help in locating Fryberg so that he can be taken into custody.
“We do not want the public to intervene or to try to apprehend Fryberg, but rather ask that people call 911 to report his whereabouts.”
Anyone that has or believes they have information regarding the robbery or the whereabouts of James Fryberg are asked to also call Marysville Police Detectives at 360.363.8350

WMW FUGITIVE ALERT: Victim Speaks As Manhunt For Woman Accused In Horrific Car Crash Ramps Up
March 11, 2010
REDMOND (Q13 FOX)- King County detectives are looking for a woman they say is responsible for a horrific car crash. The victim of the crash speaks to Q13 FOX News about the accident and how its affecting her life.
Detectives say 25-year-old Jocelynn Wheeler crossed the centerline of Novelty Hill Road east of Redmond last June and hit an on-coming vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle, 56-year-old Allyn Lindemann, was on her way home from her son’s high school graduation. She suffered catastrophic injuries included a brain injury, compound leg fractures, broken pelvis, rib fractures, and acute lung, spinal, and head fractures, among other injuries. She was airlifted to Harborview where she flat-lined for three minutes, underwent eight minutes of CPR, needed 15 units of blood and seven hours of surgery. Lindeman was in Harborview for several months and is still recovering.
“I do remember waking up in the accident. I heard someone talking to me and I think they were trying to keep me awake because I had lost so much blood,” says Lindemann.
Investigators say Wheeler received minor injuries in the crash. Investigators later found her blood alcohol level was .19 at the time of the crash. She was nearly 2½ times the legal limit. Her blood also tested positive for oxycodone and marijuana.
“She did not show up for arraignment. She’s on the lam somewhere. She needs to be in jail and that’s where we want to put her,” says Sgt. John Urquhart with the King County Sheriff’s Office.

LOS ANGELES (AP/Q13 FOX) – Tajuan Porter scored 32 points, including eight in overtime, and Oregon rallied for an 82-80 victory over Washington State on Wednesday night in the Pac-10 Conference tournament opener.
The victory ensured Ernie Kent at least another game to coach the Ducks. Multiple media outlets have reported that he’s already been fired, but Kent has not commented on his status.
Washington State’s Reggie Moore missed a jumper at the buzzer that would have sent the game into a second overtime.
The eighth-seeded Ducks (16-15) advanced to a quarterfinal game against top-seeded California (21-9) on Friday.
Klay Thompson scored 20 points and made six 3-pointers for No. 9-seeded Washington State (16-15), which had five players score in double figures. Marcus Capers added 16 points.
NJ man accused of raping, beating 5 daughters
March 11, 2010
PATERSON, N.J. (AP/Yahoo)– A New Jersey man with apocalyptic visions is accused of years of terrorizing his family, raping his five daughters and impregnating three, beating his children with wooden boards and even moving at one point to avoid child welfare investigators.
The nightmarish picture of a family subjected to more than a decade of threats and violence and largely cut off from the outside world is emerging in a state courthouse where prosecutors are preparing to have the man stand trial five times, one per child victim.
As the first case nears trial, questions have been raised about whether state authorities could have put a stop to the abuse sooner. Some of the crimes are alleged to have occurred while the family was under scrutiny by the state child welfare agency, and after the father had been arrested and pleaded guilty to assault and child endangerment.
At a hearing last week, the 51-year-old man’s former wife described in a calm voice her marriage to a man whose visions she said drove him to try to create “pure” family bloodlines by impregnating several of his teenager daughters.

DMX back in jail for alleged probation violation
March 10, 2010
PHOENIX (AP)– Authorities in Arizona say rapper DMX has been arrested for allegedly violating his probation by using drugs.
DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, had served about half of his 18-month supervised probation when he was booked Tuesday night into the downtown Phoenix jail. The rapper was released from jail in May after serving a 90-day sentence for felony convictions including cruelty to animals, theft and two drug counts.
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio says his deputies have arrested Simmons five times now, including an August 2007 raid on the rapper’s north Phoenix home where they found 12 neglected dogs, three buried dogs, drugs and a cache of weapons.
Simmons pleaded guilty in late December to cruelty to animals, theft and two drug counts. In 2008, Simmons was arrested for speeding on a Phoenix freeway and allegedly going to a Scottsdale clinic and giving a false name to receive care with the intent of not paying.

It all went down when one of the stars of “The Cove” tried to get some promotion for the TakePart dolphin-saving organization by flashing the sign during the Best Documentary acceptance speech — it lasted two seconds before they cut away from the sign.
But TMZ has learned those two seconds of exposure triggered so many text messages — the group’s mobile service provider nearly went down.
The group claims they’ve doubled their membership in the two days following the awards.
